Worship in Spirit & Truth Part 11 - "Bring Your fire to the altar"
"John 4:23 - But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him."
The woman at the well thought that she could only worship on the mountain and that Jews could only worship in Jerusalem, but Jesus gave her an answer that not only changed her, but also brings a lot of meaning to us too in this modern day society. It's time for us to return to God, so that He can return to us. Let us worship Him the real way. He's wanted that for too long now. We must give Him the worship that is due to Him. Remember in Malachi He says ask if we will give a sick broken sacrifice to a ruler; we most certainly wouldn't. The one important thing that we must notice is that when Abraham went to go sacrifice Isaac he had the wood and the fire with him. It sounds strange, because how could he have the fire with him? But if we read the Bible we will always notice that people that went sacrificing had the fire with them. God is looking for our fire, we are sometimes more worried about the sacrifice, but what about the fire, because that sacrifice will mean nothing without the fire. We must bring our fire with us when we come to sacrifice on a Sunday morning. What do you have to give God when you come to sacrifice? You cannot live like you please during the week, be hurtful, hateful or whatever and then come to church and sacrifice, because that is exactly what you will be sacrificing, you will give God all the aweful things you did during the week. The fire that we bring with us on a Sunday is the Holy Spirit fire, it's only this that will light up the altar. That means that our life with God must be a holy and pure life. The sacrifice you bring is what you've meant to God during the week, or what you've meant to your neighbour or wife, etc, and the fire is the Holy Spirit that goes with that.
It's better to live close to God and have a relationship with Him, so that your fire keeps burning. When you come to sacrifice without fire who is going to light up the altar for you?. Let us stop waiting for the music and worship leader to light up things for us, we should come to church already with the fire.
